The Humphreys County Sheriff's Office is responding after one of the department's patrol cars was spotted at a Florida beach.
It all started when someone posted photos on Facebook of the patrol vehicle parked at the beach.
After hearing from several people, the sheriff's office responded on Facebook, writing the following:
A couple deputies drove 8 hours to pick up an inmate in Destin, Florida. Like any other person would want, they wanted to see the beach. They went to take in the beauty that God has to offer and now here we are. Unfortunately in today’s time this explanation won’t be good enough and some will want heads to roll. Well we are appealing to the logical ones of you out there. Who doesn’t like to see the beach, especially after driving 8 hours to get there. The inmate and deputies have returned safely home without tax payers buying shrimp and lobster. Just a nice view for a short time before the trip home.
The person who initially posted the photos of the patrol car contacted News4, saying the photos were taken from a private post on their Facebook page. The poster claims to have received several threats since the photos started circulating.
