A man is now in custody after shooting his wife during an argument and surrendering to police, officials say.

Metro Police officers responded to a home on Southside Court after a call from a male friend of Cleveland Lamont Bell, 45, around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The man told police Bell shot his wife, 42-year-old Tanya Davis, during a "heated argument" and fled the scene.

The friend drove Bell back to the scene where he surrendered to officers.

Tanya Davis was found in the entryway of the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Bell is charged with criminal homicide. He is being held at the Davidson County Jail without bond.
