The Metro Sports Authority has approved a series of leases and contracts that moves the MLS stadium at the fairgrounds forward.

On Thursday, the board voted unanimously on a series of leases that builds a 30,000-seat soccer stadium.

The only other hurdle now is to clear Metro Council.

Metro Council legislation will be filed this week to approve another series of contracts. It will take 27 votes for the council to agree to demolish any buildings at the fairgrounds.

There is an aggressive timeline involving council votes in August and September.
