Two people were arrested after an incident on Interstate 40 near the Cheatham County line early Thursday morning.

I-40 was down to one lane in the area due to construction, and there was an officer inside a zone blocked off by traffic cones.

The driver allegedly went on the wrong side of the cones and narrowly avoided hitting the officer.

According to police, the officer tried pulling the driver over, but the car kept going.

The driver eventually stopped at the next exit, which was at McCrory Lane. Police took the driver into custody.

One of the passengers later walked up to the officers to ask where the car was being towed. An officer reportedly spotted a bag of marijuana sticking out of the man's pocket. The passenger was also taken into custody.
