The Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department is getting some new gear.

The department will soon be fully equipped with bulletproof vests and helmets specially designed for responding to potentially hostile situations.

“Responses involving active shooters and other hostile situations have grown exponentially across the nation in recent years,” said Brentwood Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Goss in a news release. “This is just another step to making our department prepared for any scenario.”
