The case against the Dickson County parents who are charged in connection with the death of their 5-year-old son will be heading to a grand jury.

Joseph and Krystal Daniels were arrested after initially reporting their son, Joe Clyde Daniels, was missing back in April.

Both appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday morning. During the hearing, the judge denied a request to reduce Krystal Daniels' bond amount.

After nearly two months of searching for Joe Clyde Daniels' remains, new details emerged during the hearing about the moments that led up to his death.

As the couple was escorted inside the courthouse, protesters stood in silence, hoping to pressure the mother and father into sharing the location of their son's body. Last month, when the couple made their first court appearance, crowds chanted "Where is baby Joe?"

A TBI agent testified during Monday's hearing about Joseph and Krystal Daniels' confessions in the case. Both were reportedly prompted by failed polygraph tests.

Both said they were woken up the morning of April 4 by their 8-year-old son who told them 5-year-old Joe Clyde Daniels had urinated on the floor. According to Krystal Daniels, her husband told her he'd take care of it.

According to the TBI agent, Joseph Daniels confessed to hitting the boy repeatedly with his fist until he died and then put the boy's body in the trunk of their car. He allegedly said he disposed of the boy's body in a wooded area.

Krystal Daniels confessed to hearing screams, walking into the living area and seeing her son lifeless on the floor. According to police, she said her husband was standing over him. She reportedly said that Joseph Daniels threatened her, which is when she went back to her room and went back to sleep.

According to the TBI agent, Joseph Daniels has given authorities six or seven different locations for his son's body since his confession. He once allegedly told Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe that he can't tell them the location of his son's remains because he doesn't want anyone to see what he's done.

The TBI is currently conducting DNA testing on the clothes Joseph Daniels claims he was wearing the morning his son disappeared, including a shirt that said "Super Dad."

The search for the boy's remains is ongoing. Texas group EquuSearch combed through the area on Saturday and Sunday.
