The Dickson County Sheriff's Office is preparing for a massive, county-wide search for the body of Joe Clyde Daniels Saturday, May 19. In doing so, they are making sure the volunteers assisting in the search are ready, both physically and mentally, for what they may encounter.

"All volunteers are asked to please remember, if found, Joe Clyde Daniels will not resemble the beautiful, blonde haired child we have seen in photographs. Please make sure you can endure what you might find," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Daniels was reported missing April 4. His father, Joseph Daniels, later admitted to killing his son, who was five years old and had autism. Joseph Daniels reportedly refused to tell police where his son's body is.

The Sheriff's Office held a meeting May 12 to prepare volunteers for the search. In a news release issued Monday, officials said volunteers must be physically capable of navigating hills, fences, brush, briers, streams, and areas of mud. All volunteers must have appropriate footwear; sandals will not be permitted.

Furthermore, the Sheriff's Office said volunteers are forbidden from having cameras or cell phones. Because the criminal investigation remains active, videos and photographs are not allowed.

The search will begin at 7:00 a.m. on May 19 at Dickson County High School. Volunteers will be split up into teams, and buses will take the teams to various search areas. According to the news release, the search will continue until the nightfall, or until Joe Clyde Daniels' remains are found. Volunteers are expected to commit to the entire search.

All volunteers must sign the disclaimer on the Dickson County Sheriff's website, here. Those wishing to search with a family member or friend need to submit the paperwork together.

If the weather Friday night causes Dickson County High School's graduation to be rescheduled to Saturday, the search will still continue as planned. However, the meeting area will be at Crosspoint Church.
