Officials said they found the body of a missing Fort Campbell soldier at Kentucky Lake on Monday morning.

According to Lyon County Emergency Management, the young man disappeared Friday afternoon while he was tubing behind a pontoon boat with friends in Golden Pond, KY.

Fort Campbell identified the soldier as Pfc Juwan Richardson, 20, of Gordon, AL. He was a petroleum supply specialist in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Strike. He joined the Army in 2016 and arrived at Fort Campbell in 2017. Decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Air Assault Badge.

"Pfc Richardson was a dedicated and hard-working member of the Strike Brigade," said Lt. Col. Matthew Adamczyk, Richardson's battalion commander. "He was an integral member of the team, respected and loved by all his fellow soldiers. His infection positive attitude and tireless work ethic will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Lyon County Emergency Management officials said the soldier's body was found at 8 a.m. near mile marker 30 of Kentucky Lake. A search team and divers from Marshall County recovered the man's body.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The Lyon County coroner will be conducting an examination.
